From Lab to Practice: Advancing Oxidative Stress Research
Oxidative stress plays a significant role in numerous scientific applications but accurately measuring it in biological samples has long posed a challenge to researchers. At the forefront of tackling this issue is Redox Innovation, which is transforming foundational research into practical, ready-to-use tools for the scientific community.
Their flagship product, the Protein Carbonyl Assay Kit, is designed to detect protein oxidation, a key marker of oxidative stress in biological systems. This assay provides researchers with a reliable and efficient method for assessing oxidative damage. The Kit is suitable for any sample containing soluble protein. It has been successfully used with a wide range of biological materials, including plasma, serum, urine, cell culture supernatants, cell extracts, tissue homogenates, as well as bacterial and plant extracts.

The key researchers involved are Professor Mark Hampton, Professor Christine Winterbourn and Dr Nick Magon, based at Mātai Hāora – Centre for Redox Biology and Medicine at the University of Otago, Christchurch. Redox Innovation is continuing to make a positive impact to researchers globally, we are looking forward to seeing additional products being developed and available on the website.
